Are you ready to show the world how your establishment serves better-quality pints than your competitors?

The Better Beer Draught Quality Certification Program is re-launching.

Like many things that were discontinued during Covid, our certification program was also a casualty. We are excited to announce the return of the Better Beer Certification Program.

The certification program exists to spotlight those establishments that are excelling in the Better Beer program by consistently meeting the standard for serving quality draught beer.

Who Qualifies?

Establishments meeting the following criteria are eligible:

  • All of the last three assessments scored green.
  • Uses a gas blend of at least 50% CO2 for non-nitro beers:
    • cylinders of beer gas that contains ≥50% CO2
    • a gas blender (or blender/generator) which produces a blend that has ≥50% CO2
  • In the past two years, have had at least six graduates in either of our Serve Better Beer or Advancing Better Beer courses. Passcodes to both courses are included in your program; there is no additional cost to you.

Branded Digital POS Files
A customizable digital copy (your location name and logo) that you can add to your menus, social media, website, or print and display, highlighting the unique things you are doing that others are not. It includes a QR code that links to the Discover Better Beer page.

  • Detailed sections outlining the importance of Line Cleaning, Beer Clean Glasses, Staff Training, Fresh & Cold Beer to draught quality
  • Short videos explaining how your establishment invests in those systems to meet these benchmarks
  • A map showcasing all certified locations, making it easy for customers to find and support certified establishments

Once certified, your assessment frequency may shift from monthly to quarterly.

However, if a red score is received during a quarterly assessment, your establishment may return to monthly assessments until it achieves consecutive green scores. At that point, quarterly assessments will resume.

Establishments must stay current with staff training by ensuring that at least six team members have graduated from the Serve Better Beer program within the past three years.

Staff who completed the program more than three years ago are required to take the Refresher Course to maintain up-to-date knowledge and compliance. Like our other courses, the Refresher course is included in your program.

Annual certification is valid until December 31. At that time, your establishment will be reevaluated to ensure that the necessary criteria are met to maintain your certification.
